Sync- The story begins at birth
Newborn calves are unique, in that, at birth their digestive system functions more similarly to a monogastric, and changes overtime as they develop into a functioning ruminant. The digestive tract is sterile at birth and must be colonized by beneficial bacteria as the calf ingests colostrum, milk, and other feed stuffs.
Colostrum is important not only for immunity, but also provides biologically active compounds that help to establish an appropriate microbe population in the gut. Unfortunately, the quality of fresh colostrum is not always adequate. We have a solution! Sync provides gut development and immune support by providing calves with 10 strains of probiotics, antibodies, and a blend of biologically active compounds for immune support.
What does SYNC provide?
-
10 strains of probiotics
- Probiotics are live microorganisms that confer a health benefit to the host. The main purpose of feeding probiotics is to enhance intestinal health by encouraging development of beneficial bacteria, and in turn preventing pathogens from colonizing the intestine. Probiotics have also been found to increase digestive capacity, lower pH, and produce substances necessary for metabolism. These effects result in improved mucosal defenses and immunity. Gut populations of microbiota are very diverse and Sync includes 10 different strains to cover all the bases.
-
Egg Proteins
- Unlike calves, who do not receive maternal immunity until after birth, chickens pass immunity directly into the eggs they lay. Egg protein technology (EPT) can produce large concentrations of antibodies (IgY) specific to common bovine pathogens. Feeding these antibodies can provide a critical bridge from birth until the calf can build its own immunity.
-
Immune Positioning System (IPS)
- Sync contains a unique blend of biologically active polysaccharides and polypeptides to provide immune support.
-
Polysaccharides (a carbohydrate consisting of a number of sugar molecules bound together)
- Polysaccharides are prebiotics that feed and stimulate growth of beneficial gut bacteria.
- Prebiotics found in Sync also depress internal pathogens and increase the competency of the immune system.
-
Polypeptides (chain containing a large number of amino-acids bound together to form part of a protein)
- Polypeptides can function as immunomodulators by supporting the immune system and preventing excess inflammation.

How is Sync used?
So when can the calf benefit from Sync? Here is a list of ways producers have found this supplement useful.
- Sync can be used as a supplement at birth to boost immune function and prevent disease. Mix the powder right in with the colostrum, or administer as a bolus.
- Drench a solution containing Sync powder or administer a Sync bolus to calves at the first sign of illness.
- Mix Sync powder into oral electrolyte treatments to aid in pathogen control and gut recovery.
Where can you buy Sync?
Sync provides solid immune support, just as a three-legged stool provides solid support to the individual sitting on it. Huge doses of probiotics and antibodies, as well as IPS. Sync can now be purchased through the Calf Distinction Store!
